Beautiful, authentic ryokan experience
This rustic ryokan was situated in the beautiful Japanese alps on the main road through the valley from Takayama. The staff provided authentic, beautiful & of course delicious Japanese breakfast and dinner. The accomadation was simple, spacious and spotless. The onset was rustic and could do with some renovation but it was charming. The ryokan was more than adequate for the price. The staff was adorable and very helpful. Definetively we would recommend it.

The keeper family is very friendly and helpful though they can't speak much English. The hot spring bath is wonderful especially the outdoor bath with birds chirping while you're bathing. The breakfast and dinner are sumptuous and reasonably priced.

Great traditional Japanese onsen with lovely host!
This hotel is very easy to find, 2 min walk from a bus station, although bus only comes every hour. It is located at a very local village hence host only speaks little bit of English but it did not stop him from helping us in any ways. We checked in at 8pm (after dinner service), the host drove us to a nearby restaurant and then the restaurant owner drove us back to the hotel!
There are two private outdoor onsen which guests can use 24 hours free of charge. The only thing I could not handle was the share bathroom but it is a personal issue.
Remember to book your breakfast and dinner in advance to ease any misunderstanding.
