Where the river meets the sea
Beautiful location right on the beach. This is where the river meets the ocean so it is a great place to observe seabirds and fresh water birds too. The view from our balcony was awesome and the boardwalk was the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. We had the pool and hot tub to ourself. We rebooked for a spring visit.

Excellent room, large and great value for money. However, it is a little remote and you will need a car. There are no catering facilities on site or nearby, and it is a 10 minute drive to the nearest eatery. Good sea views and a private beach!

Great location, comfortable beds, noisy neighbours
This hotel has an excellent position right on the beach and a nice little pool. We had a fabulous view of the sea from our room and a little balcony. In places the hotel is a bit tired now so the communal carpets and corridors need a refresh. The room was generally very good and the bed was comfortable. The sink was very small so it was difficult to wash dishes but the kitchen facilities were adequate. Cleanliness was generally very good, but some things need a deep clean. The table in our room had long-standing grime around the edges which I had to clean off before I could feel comfortable using it. The staff were mostly friendly and tried to be helpful. However, they were ineffectual in dealing with noise issues. We were there three nights and unfortunately for the first two of them we were next to a very noisy family so we were woken very early in the morning by young children. There was also an extremely noisy bathroom fan which the neighbours had left on whilst they were out and the staff seemed unable to turn it off despite visiting the room so we had to endure it for several hours along with an extremely noisy icemaking machine in the corridor. All in all we enjoyed our time at Smugglers beach and I am giving this feedback in the spirit of making constructive suggestions for improvement as I do think the hotel could be even better.
