Very bad experience with Hotels.com
This platform advertises establishments without having the authorization or a contract with the hotel keeper which is completely illegal, and it is the customer who bears the consequences.
During a stay in Dhaka, Bangladesh, I booked one room out of Hotels.com in a hotel from February 2 to 6, 2024.
Hotels.com sent me an email confirming my booking and payment. But when I got to the hotel reception, there was no sign of my booking, and the hotel manager told me that they don’t work with Hotels.com or Expedia, but only with Booking. Hotels.com took my money but didn’t pay and contact the hotel.
I had to negociate during almost 3 hours - and 1 hour and 15 minutes on the phone with Hotels.com Bangladesh - France. When you're tired after a long travel, in a country you don't know, it's very difficult to live...
Finally we were able to get our room after a wasted afternoon. But new surprise: the booked "Delux" room is actually the simplest in the hotel and the price paid at Hotels.com is 20% higher than the price offered at the reception. So we had to pay extra charges to have a nicer room.
