To call this a 5 star Shangri-La is a not accurate.
After checking in to our paid upgraded room we noticed the AC wasnt working in the bedroom (had a big room with seperate living room). the engineers arrived and quickly fixed so that air was coming out, however we notice that it was not cool air but just natural air as they call it. keep in mind this is in end of May where temperatures are between 22-28 degrees outdoors with the sun constantly on the rooms. I was told that cooling would not be turned on until mid June or later, which is insane. After several calls and threats to leave the hotel they finally agreed to turn on the AC (big thank you to miss Kong in the receptions, without her this stay would be a big disaster). the cooling was however not too powerful since other guest might "find it cold". So naturally the hotel lobby was never cooled either.
The breakfast downstairs is OK at most, but definetly not worthy of Shangri-La, there are not even enough seats for people to sit. the lounge room on the top floor only had breakfast during weekends, which was also poor quality.
The AC in the gym was always turned off so you need to tell them to turn it on, and it takes forever to cool down. The indoor pool had rules that you need to take shower before going in, yet it seems that nobody cared about those rules. the hotel area is a garden with some kids zoo which was too small for the animals. there are no sunbeds in the area and no beach that belonged to the hotel.
