No water for hours.
While we did get early check-in and our room was clean, there were several hours with no water. It was eventually restored. Our room was quite small, but it was comfortable.

Retro Motor Lodge!
Exterior was retro motor lodge but the room was very contemporary. The bed was very comfortable and everything that was needed in a hotel room was there. The location was perfect along the waterfront.

Location is why we stay
Location Location Location. That's what you're paying for. Perfect for our visits to St. Augustine so we don't have to drive anywhere. Beds are comfortable. Nice size mini fridge for all our leftovers. Cons: bathroom is TINY! Parking lot is super tiny and tight, but they always try and work it out. Maybe why they have filled in the pool and current brick paver project is in progress.

Location
The staff (Karen) was amazing to work with. The motor lodge is all about location. I could walk the loop to the Castillo along the sea wall and back down Georges street in under a mile. Plus it is Nextdoor to O. C. White’s restaurant. Life doesn’t get much better than this. The lodge is somewhat loud due to ongoing renovation.

Family trip
I enjoyed the history at this motel! The only thing that bummed me out, was that the pool is now gone! My youngest learned to swim there this past summer. Great place with lots of memories.

Nice but not nice!
There was a concern for parking availability. The pool was being removed to create more parking, but leaving hotel to go out was concerning due to what appeared to be very limited parking. The shower was very disappointing because there was a lack of hot water, lukewarm at best, with low temperatures outside. The heating unit was very loud; causing us to increase volume on television. Probably will seek other accommodations elsewhere next time.

The positives are that owners were friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, close to the historic area and all the shops and restaurants, and across the street from the water.
The negatives include no elevator to the second floor. Also, The motel (doors opening to the outdoors) has been upgraded with new floors, bathroom facilities and beds. However, the work is shoddy with missing grout and exposed wiring in some corners.

Not so good
Place is overpriced because it’s close to down town. Very noisy can hear everything outside on street and in parking lot. Air conditioning unit made horrible loud noise every time it turned on. No breakfast. Room it self was ok except for bed frames were old wooden frames that were falling apart. Also when we pulled in maid was in front washing towels and sheets by hand in a tub? This turned my wife off immediately. It it was a $250 a night hotel I would let those things go but not for almost $400 a night

The staff was excellent but the room no so clean.. My sister’s room (room 110) smells like humidity and horse urine . The stay Was unbearable. We even try to get a room in another hotel but every where else was sold out . The lady in the front desk said the owner will call you and never call her . I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location great, housekeeping horrible
Excellent location, older motel but redone nicely. Unfortunately, the housekeeping was disgusting!!! The bed sheets were dirty and I was changing sheets at 11:30pm on first night of our stay.
I waited to post this review as I hoped to receive an apology (or at a minimum, an acknowledgment) from the manager or owner, but I never heard from anyone.

Poor
The room was not maintained well. There were bugs on the ceiling and lots of unfinished pieces- no baseboards under the sink cabinets, paint peeling on the wall and in the bathroom. The bed was so loud and the we couldn't sleep well. It creaked and made awful noises when you moved.

Great location with an average room.
Marion Motor Lodge is a great location for downtown St. Augustine. Over all it was a good stay. The normal gripes of paper thin walls and hearing the people next door are there. A dated, older building. The only big issue we had was the A/C is located around a partition wall that leads to the bathroom. So the main room doesn't get much cooling/heating from the A/C. The other issue was the bathroom window. It was a very old crank style panel window. It provided zero insulation from the outside for the actually shower/toilet area. The nights we stayed got down to the upper 40's to lower 50's. Having to use the toilet in the middle of the night was not pleasant to say the least. It also made getting in and out of the shower a very chilling experience. LOL I would say it was a little overpriced for the accommodations, but the location made it worth it.
