We arrived late and just wanted to get our room and sleep. Night clerk was indifferent at best, no information on hotel amenities, breakfast times, Wi-Fi etc…
We were in Fiuggi for a romantic weekend. The room did not add to that.
First flag of trouble was when we got to the door, as we put the key in the lock, the door swung open, made a mental note to use the room safe. Only problem was could not, it was locked. The room had a musty smell, top of the wardrobes were filthy.
My partner went to freshen up in the lav, came out and pointed out there were pubic hairs on the bidet and sink, the shower was missing one of the two doors.
The bed was a disaster area, every time I leaned up on my elbow, the elbow would push all the way through to the bed frame.
Breakfast did not any better. Selection was Spartan at best. Bread was stale white bread no toaster. Wait staff was equally indifferent.
In the reservation I stated we wanted a quiet weekend. It felt like the staff decided to screw with us by giving us a room that clearly should not have been in service, the room was at the elevator lobby so all stay we heard everyone in the hall.
We identified the issues to the front desk in the morning. Fiuggi is my partner’s home town, there was no translation errors, the clerk showed no surprise to the issues other than the Pubic hairs.
What surprised me was no effort was made to fix any of the problems or offer compensation, I guess I’m spoiled on Hilton’s Make It Right policy.
