I travel a lot, and this is the first time I have had such a terrible experience.
So much that for the first time in my life, I had to leave an hotel and find somewhere else to stay.
We booked our trip 6 months ago.
We arrived at night with our 2 kids. Compared to what they advertise, the « apartment » they gave us was way smaller, way older and the AC was extremely loud, which made it complicated to sleep. The balcony was stuck to the next apartment balcony.
We went to the lobby but they told us we had to wait for the next day.
They showed us one room almost identical to the first one we had. The only better thing was the view. We gave up and told ourselves to accept that this was a very bad hotel…
Unfortunately this was not the end of the story. When we came back after a long day and started to put the kids to sleep, we realized that the only AC was in the bedroom and that the living room where two of us were supposed to sleep had no AC!!
So we had to spend another sleepless night.
In the morning we explained the situation and told them we couldn’t stay given everything. The manager, Andreas, got very angry at us. Even thought he refused to reimburse us for the remaining nights, we still left as it would have been awful to stay there.
Fortunately we explained the situation to Expedia. They really listened, we showed them the pictures and they agreed with us and reimbursed us.
Thanks to Expedia we were able to still enjoy the remaining of our only week of vacation.
