Holbox is a paradise but don't expect to immediately dive in the water and swim. You will need to walk a while into the ocean before you can reach a depth where you may be able to immerse. You will find yourself mainly walking & getting ur feet wet.

There are waaay too many golf cars, gas powered and noisy. Please walk instead of supporting this. In early April, the sargasso was really bad. They do what they can to clear it, but there's a lot of it. People on Holbox are trustworthy.

When it rains the roadway areas become flooded easily. We had a big rain storm one day and we were surprised by this. Now that we know, we would have packed different footwear. I recommend sandals such as tevas or chacos.

Beautiful beaches, but roads flood when it rains. Cool, casual vibe. A little out of the way to get there 2 hr car + half hour ferry + 15 min cab from cancun airport.

I'd recommend a walk on the sand bar at low tide to mosquito point. I hear the water is more blue in july... Be careful of slippery flooded streets if you journey to the interior.

Nice island but getting there is a hassle and takes a long time. Don't take private taxi or shuttles due to dangerous driving. Take Ado bus.

We love the island. We have been multiple times. It seems to be growing fast and it may eventually lose the charm. It is not exactly luxurious but we love it. Great people, great food and a simple.

Holbox develops fast, hope not too fast. Still the island character and much better than PdC or Cancun if you really want to disconnect. Many adults only options as well
