We had an excellent stay. All our needs were met quickly and we would definitely stay again. I will say it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but for us it was perfect!

We stayed 2 nights in Cedar cabin. It was very clean. The gas fireplace was perfect for the cooler evenings. Office was closed both days we were there, but cafe was open for great coffee selection on our departing morning. Have never picked up our key for checkin that was just tacked to a bulletin board outside office. Also have never been told to take bedding off beds, drive all used towels in basket to office window, and bag all trash and drive to dumpster near office. Great location, but very close to highway for traffic noise. Very focused on cleanliness with the full page check out instructions.

Nice rustic cabin just outside of hill city. This is an old cabin attached to the office/coffee shop. Never heard any noise from inside the shop. Because the cabin is very old it is not level inside. Also there is no separate air conditioning from the shop and the cabin, if you need it on you have to call. We just left the door open until bed and that helped cool it off. Has a small refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot which was more than enpugh for us. Bed comfortable. If you are there make sure and stop and get coffee from the Perky Pines coffee shop, great coffee.

2/10 Poor

Wasn’t a cabin but a room with a bath tied to the side of the lodge. The floor sloped so bad when I put my little suitcase down in rolled. Close to the street so very noisy especially with Sturgis bike week going on. The owners closed up the lodge for the week so nothing was available to buy. They had a grill on the outside with some charcoal but it wasn’t clean, still had the old charcoal in it.

Cabin was nice. No a/c. The parking isn’t very good for motorcycles. Didn’t really have any communication with staff, but we had everything we needed for our stay.

Really cute cottage. Just like staying at grandma’s house. Very clean and the owner was very kind and responsive. A little run down, but kinda added to the charm. Would stay again.

4/10 Fair

Cabin 2 We stayed in cabin 2 for 2 nights while visiting Custer. The cabin is located right next to the busy highway and traffic is loud - not relaxing to sit outside at anytime. The cabin itself is ok. No AC, only loud box fans. We slept on the futon in the living room area because we couldnt find any plug ins in the bedroom part for the box fan.... Pillows were very flat. I dont know if the cabin is being run by a generator? There was a persistent humming or vibration that we couldnt find where it was coming from. All of this and they want you to clean the cabin before you leave. I dont mind doing my own dishes, but sweeping the floor, taking out the trash, taking our towels to wherever they need to go should not be the job of your guests. Especially for what we paid to stay there. There is a number you can call or text if you have any issues and the responses from that person did not seem as though they really wanted to be assisting you or answering questions. It wasnt the worst stay ever, but there is no reason we would ever come back given how many other options there are in the Black Hills area.

Great location, beds need updating
Nice, convenient location in the pines. Bunk beds may be suitable for small children, not adults! Poor mattresses. Sofa bed, in my opinion, good to sit on, wouldn’t sleep on it without a 4 inch memory foam pad. A few other added amenities (shower caddy, paper towels etc) and it would be great. Owner was great in responding to requests, so customer service gets an 5 star!

This property is central to most of the attractions in the Keystone, Custer and Rapid City area. The bed was very comfortable and it was a very private area.

Greatly enjoyed our stay at Pine Rest Cabins. We stayed in cabin #3 which offers a decent size space with the whole porch to yourself. The place was clean, cozy and comfortable. The cabins are rustic so there is no A/C but there was two fans available to use in the bedroom and an high ceiling fan in kitchen and living area. The day we arrived we accidentally locked ourselves out and the staff was very friendly and gave me an extra key right away.If you are looking for something rustic yet just minutes away from Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, shopping and dining options this is the place to stay. Definitely recommend this place.
