I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Alison from June 13-16. Florence at the front desk is a gem and could not have been more welcoming. I found my room layout efficient and the bed extremely comfortable. I also appreciated the continental breakfast automatically included with my room, which they serve in the hotel's charming basement dining area. The breakfast particularly came in handy on my final day before heading to the airport. My only quibbles are not with the hotel but rather with the location. While not inconvenient, the neighborhood is pretty "ho-hum." Aside from a handy Franprix across the street, there are few patisseries or boulangeries in the immediate area (one must walk several blocks to find one) and the area offers minimal dining options compared to other Paris neighborhoods. I've been to Paris many times, so, for me, these were slight inconveniences, but first-timers may be disappointed with the location's general vibe. It is mainly a shopping area during the day and once the stores close, except for a theatre next to the hotel offering live shows, the sidewalks mostly "roll up at night." Nonetheless, the hotel is near a handy metro (Madeleine), so it's easy to travel to/from many neighborhoods, and the hotel is also only a 10-15 minute stroll to Place de la Concorde, Tuileries, and the Seine. Consequently, many visitors will undoubtedly find Hotel Alison a comfortable and convenient "home away from home" they will want to return to again and again.
