We enjoyed our visit to the castle with a very amusing knowledgeable guide. Also the playhouse is worth a visit for both the theatre and the cinema. We saw a live streaming from the National Theatre. Excellent. Tourist Information staff - excellent.

We love Alnwick as a town and visit often. There are lots of dining and entertainment options including The Plough for a good meal and Barter Books. Alnwick Castle and gardens are great for a visit and The Treehouse is wonderful for food.

Although parking was only 2 hours with a permit (hotel provided on arrival) there was a long stay parking just at the back of morrisons. The town itself is lovely, castle was closed because of the time of year. But station with books in,was fabulous.

Architecturally handsome stone-built town, home to Alnwick Castle. Large, excellent and quirky bookshop housed in a former railway station a few minutes' walk from White Swan hotel.

Primarily we visited for the castle which was superb. The area in general is beautiful and this was our first visit. We will be returning.
"We arrived early and the room was ready so we got straight in. When we walked in we all just went wow, we weren't expecting so much space and such a quirky room steeped in character and fun. There were 3 of us and we all got our own bed as there was a hidden pull out bed under the sofa and they all turned out so comfortable, once my head hit the pillow I didn't wake up until the following morning which is unheard of for me.the bathroom was huge and amazing.i couldn't fault this property. We were there for a cinema showing in Alnwick castle and found the castle was a 2 minute walk round the back of the pub which was perfect. We loved that the pub was haunted but unfortunately didn't see any ghosts.."
"Amazing all round . We have been staying here each year for the last 6 years and never disappointed. Everything is just right ! We love it. The food is freshly cooked , good portions & delicious. The drinks are too, sensibly priced in today’s ever increasing market. The setting is idyllic and so much can be explored on foot or by local bus if not wanting to drive . We just love it here, staff friendly , beds comfy , soft fluffy towels . It’s a cottage feel as the name suggest and not the place if you are wanting gastro overpriced food and accommodation! After all you are paying for the posh wallpaper !! But if you like good honest clean and perfectly adequate accommodation with fabulous food and drink at a reasonable cost then this the the place to be! Thank you for a lovely stay as always "
