Great people and location but overpriced
The hotel folks were friendly and The Bard is centrally located--both pluses. But the rooms are basic and more than a bit down-at-the-heels. Definitely not worth >$200/night, even for Ashland.

Great Location
Great room, a little small compared to the pic but overall a good room in a great location. Walking distance to downtown which is a huge plus

Dated and noisy
Reception staff was excellent. Our room was located on the bottom floor and the walls were paper thin. We could hear the people in the room next to us sneezing and the people upstairs sounded like they were stomping but it was likely just thin building materials. AC unit was dated and noisy. Not a hotel it was a motel. Included breakfast was fit for a camping trip for small children, not humans who eat food. Would not stay again.

My only complaint was the beds, there was a definite slope on both beds. Also we weren’t there for TV, but had a hard time operating it. Could need chsnge of batteries

We stay at the Bards inn almost exclusively when we come to Ashland(3-4 time a year). The property is located a short 3 min walk to downtown area and theaters. This was the 1st time we had a bed that was not very comfortable and we could at times hear the people around us. The staff are wonderful and the location is great. We will be back again.

We’ve stayed in Ashland many times over the last several years and never tried out Bards. Well this place must have been great 20 years ago. Now the wallpaper is peeling, the air conditioner sputters in and out of life, and the wall where the fridge and tv were plugged in just lost power for no apparent reason, never to come back on. The beds were uncomfortable and hard to sleep on. This was a motel charging for upscale hotel prices just because it had (poorly displayed) Shakespeare “art” plastered everywhere. The whole place came off as old, cheesy, and unkempt. Avoid this place and stay at Ashland Springs for a much better old style hotel feel; this one was trying too hard and failed. Never again.
