This was our second time staying on the property and first time in the farmhouse. We like it because it's a welcome change from cookie cutter hotels. Quiet area, friendly family and great breakfast!

Wonderful farmhouse B&B stay!
Driving from New York City, my fiancé and I knew we wanted an authentic farm stay to begin our journey down south. Extra thanks to owner/host Angela who texted while we were on the road that it was OK that we were running late and that she’d upgraded our stay to the farmhouse. It’s closest once you enter the farmhouse, and so we appreciated the light she left on and less navigation once we arrived -- it’s a sizable property, and it was pitch-black at 11 p.m.! (No way to avoid the torrential rains and electric storm that night!) When we arrived, the bedroom was exactly what we needed: cozy, incredibly comfortable bed and with running AC (it was cool enough to turn off for the night). The next morning was an abundance of breakfast goodness: homemade ham-and-cheese quiche, home fries, freshly made blueberry muffins, which we were told we could take with us as we set off in our travels. We opted to dine with the other couple, who were seated a safe distance at the long wooden table. We'd been offered a private breakfast -- where else would that be offered?! -- but we would have denied ourselves a delightful experience meeting the other travelers. Take the time to chat with Angela and her husband, John, too, and learn more about their amazing care for their farm, surroundings and community. Our only regret is we arrived too late and left too early to explore the farm and other parts of West Virginia.

5 stars are not enough. Everything about the Country Road House and Berries Bed and Breakfast is warm and welcoming, with a quaint, rustic charm. The scenery is overwhelmingly beautiful.  Our room was quite comfortable,  and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious.  The Borne family were perfect hosts/hostesses.  Angela, John, Matt, Sam, and Brooke have truly found their calling in the hospitality field. The Country Road House and Berries Bed and Breakfast will be my first choice of lodging during future visits to the area.

A step back in time
We were the only guests at this wonderful farm whose origins go back over a hundred years. Teri was our host and welcomed us to our cellar room. I slept 9 beautiful hours and was awakened by the rooster and the bleating of a goat! We had a breakfast of French toast, fresh blueberries, oatmeal, and the freshest eggs I’ve ever had. They were from the beautiful chickens roaming around our picnic table. Wonderful Wi-Fi. A beautiful way to escape the noise and traffic of the interstate.

This place is a hidden gem! John and Angela and their children are very sweet and easy to talk to! They make you feel right at home! The breakfast is amazing and I regret not having it last time I stayed! I found my new place when staying to visit family and if you’re looking for someone safe and relaxing to stay this is the place! I can’t wait to come back and visit again!

We had a short, one night stay in the farm house. The house and property has so much character. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was amazing! My family enjoyed the chickens, ducks and turkey. We plan to visit again in the summer for strawberry picking! Best of all was the hosting family. Thank you!

Great stop B&B just outside of Charleston.
What a great stay! Hospitality was amazing. Great greeting and really made us feel welcome. Directions by text made the location easy to find. We met great neighbors as well. Our room was the cellar room and was very cozy. Comfortable bed, AC and fan ensured we were not hot. Bathtub was deep water hot! We were able to walk in the morning, the hike up hill was worth the sunrise view. Breakfast was superb! The oatmeal was especially superb. Wifi was fine for email as well. Great stop, we want to come back with our sons.

A Memorable Experience
We arrived a 5 PM to check in and no one was there. We waited 45 minutes then called the owner (who we later found was off site on vacation). She (Angela) said Anna was supposed to be there and told us the unit was unlocked and we could move in. We couldn’t identify the unit, so we went to dinner. When we returned Anna was there and helped us with our bags to move in. The unit was very rustic and clean except for the walls of rough wood that contained pieces of dust and debris stuck to it and cobwebs around the ceiling and in corners. No TV, but the wireless was excellent. The tub shower was difficult to access because it lacked grab bars. The shower was aimed so that it wouldn’t reach the lower half of your body. The bed was very comfortable and the A/C worked great. The breakfast was excellent. We had some difficulty finding Ann when problems arose. We’d forgotten to get the wireless code and after wandering the property, found her in the woods burying a duck. When the toilet wouldn’t flush, we found her in the kitchen of the main house. After that, we got her phone number. Our main takeaway from the stay was the friendliness of both Angela and Anna. They were some of the nicest and most welcoming people we have ever met. While the property isn’t quite ready for prime time, we’d definitely return for another visit.

My first piece of advice would be to follow the directions that the host gives to you instead of trusting any map service. This is no fault of the host but rather the technology being behind because it is located in a rural area. That being said, once we arrived to the location, the hosts were so accommodating and kind. The house is right next to their home and they made sure we got a tour of the place and let us know where everything was. They were kind to my children and gave us some cool history lessons about the region. The bedding was divine, I wish I could have my linens feel as soft and smell as nice as their bedding did. There is no television which is was a nice change to have us spend time together playing board games/ cards (all of which they provided) The shower was wonderful because they provided toiletries and local handmade soaps topped with soft towels that smelled just like the linens on the beds. To top everything off, the breakfast that they provided the next morning was absolutely amazing. Fresh fruit, quiche, bacon, homemade waffles, potatoes, orange juice, and coffee. It was divine! They brought it all to us and they stayed for great conversation. This stay felt criminal because the services they provided seemed too much for the very low price they charged. I hope to find more places like this when I travel so that hotels will be a thing of the past for me. I will definitely be staying again when I have to travel through WV again!

I really liked the fact that there were no televisions or phones there. It sure made things peaceful and relaxing. I also liked the fact that the entire family was so friendly and wanted to make sure my wife and I felt completely welcome and comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our too brief visit. It was a pit stop for us and would have like to explore the countryside. The hosts were so welcoming and provided excellent communication prior to our arrival. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable. But the highlight was the farm fresh breakfast - it was amazing. Hands down beats a chain hotel and worth the effort to go a little out of the way for a unique experience.
