Not a family friendly place
I cannot say how the actual hotel is, because we did not stay. BUT let me start by saying, if you have kids, I would avoid. We were greeted at the front, not by valet (none in sight) but by crackheads (obvious) loitering and thrusting (private parts) all by the front entrance. We waited patiently for someone to come valet since we did not want to leave the kids or the car running. I must add in that I work in an ER, so I’m not easily put off by certain “character types” but we were not willing to stay knowing we had the children with us. They were just too scared. I called to cancel and the staff were friendly if I have to give a plus. The Hyatt Regency next door is cheaper and much more family friendly (we drove straight there and had a wonderful stay). I ended up eating the cost, but worth it for the peace of mind.

Not what it seems!
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in lasted over and hour, due to a computer crash. Only one hotel staff could do check ins. The check in line was from the front desk and extended to outside into the cold damp weather. We were late for our event due to this. Room had a muggy and wet carpet odor. Pictures online are professional and the actual room was not a match to them AT ALL. TV in bedroom didn’t work. Shower had 1/2 door, water splashed all over the floor when in use. Bedroom and bathroom were extremely tight space. The parking garage connected to the hotel elevator was out, so we had to walk far with our luggage. Breakfast was horrible the next morning. We paid $100 more at the hotel and didn’t receive a receipt.

The room itself was very roomy, plenty room for 2 adults and 3 children. It was clean and affordable. Check In was not smooth. Everyone was trying to check in right at 4 so the line was out the door. Only one lady was actually checking people in, we were told due to a computer being down.

Check-in was easy, there was self parking nearby for a better price than valet. I was impressed with the breakfast quality, and I enjoyed the space of an apartment and the amenities of a hotel. Favorite part was the proximity to Bourbon Street and Canal Street.

Late checkout overcharge
The night before my check out I request a no charge late check out from 11am to move to 12pm as is on their website. Right after 11am the date of check out the housekeeper knock on my door and said check out was at 11am and that I will be charge a late check out fee and I explain to her I requested the night before and she said is not in her system so will be charge the fee. I went to front desk and the front desk lady about what happen and they did not care to remove my late fee. I will definitely will not stay in this hotel again.

Overall comfortable overnight stay for family
The staff was helpful and kind. The room was a nice size. It could use a bit of an update the tub is worn a bit. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. I really liked the bedding as it was soft and cozy. The temp of the room was great too. Breakfast was decent although I’m not sure about breakfast tacos. There were other good choices.Easy walk to Ceasars Superdome and Smoothie King. Parking garage next door is only $20 overnight if you selfpark.

Great Value inNew Orleans
The Sonesta ES is a hotel intended for, but not limited to, extended stay. The spotless clean room was huge and had a full sized refrigerator, a stove with a range, and kitchen utensils. The beds were very nice. The location is great, two blocks from Canal Street. The streetcar stops across the street from the hotel (in both directions) and there is a bus stop in front of the hotel -- but one can easily walk to the delights of the French Quarter. Breakfast was provided and was good, cookies and flavored water is available in the afternoon. The only downside I found was the 'fridge tried to make ice cubes at 3 AM, but was not hooked up for it, and the bathroom fan was very loud.

Comfortable stay
The breakfast was good although when they ran out of eggs (both mornings) it took 15 minutes to get more. The beds were very comfortable but the furniture in the LR and dining area was not at all. They were quite accommodating to give us more towels and coffee packets. The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it when we put ours in to run on departure.

Great Location
I had the Jr suite and I wasn’t sure what to expect because photo don’t always tell the truth but once I open the door i was impressed . It was clean, cute and love the shower. Perfect for solo or a couple. I enjoyed the outside patio. The convenience of having the buses and street cars right out front for travel around downtown was also a plus. Great location and quiet at night. I would stay at this particular Sonesta again.
