A missed opportunity for Hilton
Beautiful old Florida property in the lobby and grounds. But the rooms looked like they were last remodeled 20 years ago in early Garden Inn - in no way consistent with the history of the property. Much of the hotel, particularly the windows and elevators, was dirty. Room just never felt clean. And the bed was so-so with terrible pillows. VERY noisy at night with slamming doors and loud people at all hours (can't they put some rubber bumpers on those doors!) And everywhere you look touch-up painting is needed. Staff was pleasant but largely absent. One gets the impression there just weren't enough staff to take care of the place properly. Service in restaurant was okay - food was good. Bellman Ricky was a bright spot - Key West native with great knowledge and advice on what to see, where to eat, and how to get around (don't even try to drive - use LYFT for everything). If we could have slept at night, our stay here would have been okay (it is a beautiful place). But until Hilton makes some improvements, we won't stay here again.
