Really enjoyed our stay, the room had been refurbished but the wardrobe and bathroom doors were slightly damaged/tired looking. Beds were comfortable, very powerful shower and breakfast was delicious. All staff very friendly and welcoming.

Always recieve a warm welcome when i stay here, staff are very friendly. Rooms are always spotlessly clean. Hotel is directly across from Railway and bus stations which is extremely handy

It’s in a perfect location! From the train from the ferry and from downtown. It an old hotel with all the amenities. Comfortable bed large room and big bathroom. There is a nice little pub and restaurant here too. I’d stay again.

The hotel was immaculately clean. The bedrooms were very spacious & really nice. We slept in superior double room. The breakfast was amazing & lots of different things to choose from. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great service, gorgeous room

The two ladies at the desk were very helpful. I had booked a double room for the night. Whilst checking in one of the ladies noticed I had a visual impairment so changed my room to a ground floor which was extremely helpful. She also completed a PEEP. This should be done in each hotel however it is rare. The room was beautiful and the bed amazing. Great service. Thank you ladies

Our room was right beside a stairwell with a door that made the loudest thump when opened and closed. Kept me up for most of the night with people coming and going. I even had earplugs in. Bar staff were excellent. Front desk staff were excellent.

Pleasantly surprised

I was worried about my stay after a couple of bad reviews from colleagues. We arrived early to find plenty of parking but not directly outside of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in 20mins early! Room was spacious,clean and well equipped. Bed was comfy.. The only complaint about the room was the rattling windows... stuffed with a piece of card and all fine for a hotel of its age. Breakfast was ok. Completely self service but i felt as a vegetarian that the hot breakfast service was lacking! I did point out to staff that i was a veggie! All in all. I would stay again

Nice hotel, small improvements needed

Hotel was nice, however our room (Grampian Room) was very cold, we had to leave oil heater on bit could have been better with another one! Mould in ceiling too. Not very accessible for whhelchair user as reception staff not keen on bringing out ramp.

Average at best

Got a 4th floor room in the attic. Size was good but that was about it. Smelt weird, was too hot with no air-con and the mattress was thin. I was having an afternoon nap and was interrupted by someone trying the door, turns out reception had issued my room to another person. How does the even happen? Fortunately I had dead-bolted the door otherwise it’d been an uncomfortable situation. Breakfast was decent though and you can’t beat the location for the train station.

Bed for the night

Stayed one night as we had an early bus to catch the next day. Disappointed there wasn’t a fridge, or air conditioning (or fan) in the room. Room decoration tired, no towel rail (or hooks) or toilet roll holder in bathroom. Hotel now charges for hotel parking (£10 a night) but it is cheaper to park in the multi story carpark 5mins walk away (£7 for 24hrs). Also, bar shut at 10am which is earlier than we have experienced in other hotels.

Good stay, not sure about upgrading to deluxe...

We had a good stay in a deluxe room. We stayed 2 nights and only interacted with 3 members of the staff - reception, bar and breakfast staff who just told us to pick a table and help ourselves. The deluxe room was spacious with lovely shower and bathroom but could have done with extra touches eg hooks for towels and robes by the shower, tissues, toiletries and adequate supply of loo roll. Not sure about housekeeping as the only indication they had been was the towels were folded in the bathroom, no clean mugs or bins emptied or bed made. All small things that didn't really spoil our stay but if they bothered to come in the room why not do a proper job.
