Cowboy heritage meets presidential legacy in a town where the Wild West still feels alive. The Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library showcases Ike's journey from humble Kansas beginnings to the White House. After exploring his boyhood home, wander through the elegant Seelye Mansion with its remarkably preserved Victorian interiors. The Greyhound Hall of Fame offers an unexpectedly fascinating look at these sleek racing dogs, complete with retired champions who greet visitors. Local steakhouses serve beef raised on surrounding prairies, best enjoyed before catching a rodeo at the Central Kansas Free Fair. Best Inn Motel

Best Inn Motel

8/10 Good
"Very clean room for price. No bugs. Everything worked in my room. Hardwood floors. Medium-soft, comfortable king bed. Staffer friendly but gave a confusing description of where room was. It was confusing partly because some rooms have keycard entry, some keypad (mine was a keypad with code given at front desk) and partly because rooms are numbered, then lettered out of order, then numbered again, with an unlabeled room in the middle, so that room A was past room 8 and room B, but before room 10. Thinking it might have been my lettered room that I hadn’t yet reached, I pushed open a partly opened door for an unlabeled room only to get screamed at in the dark. Guess that wasn’t mine! When I finally found it, the location just made no sense. But once I was in, the room was very good and quiet."

"There is remodeling but the room we had was very nice. The shower and bed were great! It was a new remodel. The staff was very helpful and very kind. The only problem I had was from the smell of the hallway cleaner. I was allergic, but that is not the hotels fault. It smelled good and was very clean. I just could not breathe when I was in the hall."

"I was impressed by the value and convenience of this hotel. Less than $100 for one night with an easy reservation/check in. The front desk attendant, Ms Sally, was perfectly accommodating and friendly. She offered parking and breakfast information immediately. Exactly what you need during a midnight check-in on a cross country road trip. The room had fresh linens, shining surfaces, sufficient amenities, and the whole property was tidy. Overall very satisfied."

"It's convenient for the price & was clean enough. My whole experience was jarring though as I hadn't experienced racism directly directed at me in years.....probably over a decade until I came into that town of Abilene, Kansas. I must've been naive thinking that mentality died out years ago. Well, it's still alive and well in Abilene, Kansas."
