Stressful start.
They said they hadn't received my booking and told me to try and get a refund and pay in RMB - it was a fiasco. I was lucky as I had a Chinese friend who helped with the issue and Hotels.com were also helpful. In the end they dropped it but it was an extremely stressful welcome to China. The room was extremely basic and not the cleanest and in ok condition, eg the floors weren't spotless and the skirting boards were coming away in places, and the chair was half broken etc... HOWEVER they were very accommodating when I had to book an extra night's stay and it was in a very good location.
