It was very special to be able to stay at Rifugio Della Rocca. It was a unique place, right at the top of the mountain, about a 10 minute hike from the beautiful castle. It is very remote, so once you get to the top (either by car or by shuttle), you probably won't be leaving. You could drive or shuttle back down to the town of Calascio if you like, but it is busy, and they recommended we didn't leave with our car so that we wouldn't lose our parking spot. Either way, for 1 or 2 days, there's no reason to leave. It's a cute little town at the top of the mountain, and the views are spectacular. Giorgio was very helpful, and even helped us carry our luggage around the (lots of hills and slippery cobblestone streets). The included breakfast was simple but nice. The room was simple and rustic. Everything is built from the old stone buildings of the town, and retrofitted for modern use. Don't expect a fancy 5 star stay, but it gives you everything you need. Also, if you are tall, be careful because I hit my head on many doorways in the town, as well as the bathroom doorway of our room. Overall it was a nice stay.
