4/10
We booked two rooms for one night at Holiday Inn by the Falls, Ontario, primarily because the booking site showed photos suggesting views of Niagara Falls, especially from the dining area. We paid around £100 (CAD190) a night for each room.
Unfortunately, this turned out to be misleading—there are no actual Falls views from the hotel. The only view we got was parking lot at the back from my balcony.
When we raised this with the front desk, the response was, “Our ad says ‘by the Falls,’ not ‘with Falls views.’” That explanation was frustrating and dismissive, especially considering how prominently the Falls are featured in the hotel’s promotional photos. If the hotel doesn't offer views, those images should not be used—it’s misleading and disappointing for guests who are paying with that expectation in mind.
On the positive side, the hotel is clean, and the rooms were comfortable and well-maintained. Breakfast was good, and the staff in the dining area were friendly and welcoming.
Overall, while the stay was fine in terms of cleanliness and service, the main reason we chose this hotel was for the Falls view, and in that regard, it completely failed to meet expectations. If you're considering this hotel because of the advertised view, be aware: there isn't one.
