The Porta Nova B&B is one of the best places to stay if you are visiting Napoli. It is close to everything, centrally located between historic places, transportation, the "must go" pizzerias, a major avenue, and the port. However, the one thing that I know people will gripe about is the neighborhood. Like may European places, the historic sites are not in the best neighborhoods. This one is not exception. We weren't worried about crime or security (we walked around at night a lot), but more for the noise. Also, don't expect a view. The hotel is in an alley, and from the outside looks like a normal residence. However, once you enter, you are in a warm home; well kept, and very clean. Carmine (son) and Antonio (father) are PHENOMENAL. They are kind, quick to tell you where to go, and not to go, and very charismatic. I even helped Antonio bill my card. Its a true family affair, and should I go back to Napoli, I wont hesitate to stay there again. One thing, bring a translator as neither of them speak English well.
