Unpleasant virtual check in
Good location, near city center. Overall, the apartment is satisfactory considering everything is expensive in Iceland. The unpleasant experience I encountered was the virtual check in. Without a real front desk, it took 3 hours to resolve all the issues with payment and door lock codes.

Highly recommend. I enjoyed my time at this property. It was well suited for 2 adults and 2 small children. It was right around the corner from the Main Street in downtown Iceland. Easy to walk to shops, restaurants and very centrally located to get to different activities in a short amount of time. Would definitely stay at this property again.

This property is in a perfect location. You can walk all over Reykjavík. However, there is a bar nearby and it is VERY loud at night on the weekend, so bring ear plugs for sleeping. The room was clean and generally well supplied. This apartment is not stroller friendly. There is no space for parking it and there are stairs to get to the main area of the room. There isn’t luggage storage so you’ll have to pay more to store luggage at a nearby kiosk if you arrive early or depart late (though we were able to check in early). Our room was quite cold at night even with the heat on and I didn’t know why until the morning we checked out. There are some windows up high that were open. Those should have been closed when guests check in because it is hard to notice and I’m not sure how I even would have closed them.

Rented a penthouse with hot tub. Hot tub was broken and non functioning. Never notified about this before stay. Received poor communication when reached out to property management about the issue. Never resolved.

ALVA is nice penthouse apartment. It gave a nice first impression. Size was good, looks relatively clean. View is nice. But the whole experience started to become just average. Firstly, apartment wasn't as clean as it looks, there was a jacket in the closet that wasnt cleared, probably left by the previous guest. All the utensils are still left in the dishwasher. It was washed but wasnt cleared. it was a full rack so we have to replace everything back before we can actually use it. There were gadgets plugged in so you dont know if you can remove it or leave it but it was in the way. Secondly, some things were just lacking. There wasn't a place or rack to put the toiletries in the bath area, so you either had to put it on the floor or wet the toilet area by coming out to get it from the toilet or vanity top. Although there is a big baking oven, but there isn't a microwave oven for you to make small meals. The entire place just didn't feel like it was clean and I'm not someone who is that particular. Thirdly, there isn't any instructions or guide on how to operate the appliances and things around the place. i had to figure out almost everything on my own. I had difficulty operating the induction stove. The washing machine and dryer panel was in Icelandic, i had to google translate to find out every function. There was only heating. no air-conditioning or Fan Fourthly, the service support is terrible. I can go on, but I'm limited to 1,500 characters for this review

Really nice room, both bed and pullout sofa were very comfortable, and the location was perfect. I had emailed ahead about parking and got a prompt and detailed response. Also received detailed entry instructions so that was smooth and very easy!

Location, location, location.
Great location. Close to EVERYTHING downtown. Be aware that the parking fees around the apartments are P1... the most expensive in Reykjavik. Park a couple of blocks to the south for P2, or leave your car in a parkade a few blocks north to save a BUNCH of money - dowload the "Parka" app before arriving to find where the closest parking is and make sure you're paid up. Room was comfortable, very thankful for blackout curtains! Guest laundry was a blessing after being on the road for over a week. Some downsides though. Building looks like it's undergoing renovations. When we checked in, there was still garbage in the garbage cans and there were crumbs in the cutlery tray. Other than that, was a nice place to stay in the heart of Downtown Reykjavik.

This was a perfect location to enjoy Reykjavik by foot. Literally on top of a grocery store, and a short walk from an endless number of restaurants and bars. We got to enjoy three nights here as we reset after doing the Ring Road, and the extra room was appreciated as we repacked for the flight home. Parking was easy in the neighborhood, and if you go a block further away, you can save a ton by parking in zone 2.

I liked that the area was very quiet as Iceland typically is, but the condition of the property and the apartment itself could have been cleaner. The room was very dusty/dirty. I used my Clorox wipes and it was as if it were cleaned for the first time.

Great Property! Right next door to the Kronan Grocery store, which is perfect. Walking distance to everything. Comfy beds. Amazing balcony. Nice hot tub. Kitchen has lots and pans, plenty of dishes and cups, glasses etc. washer dryer was a nice bonus. I would definitely give this place a look.

Good Stay
We received an email the day before stating our room number and codes which was great. Location was perfect. Less than a 4 min walk to Bus Stop 6 for drop offs and tour collections and right in the centre, near Rainbow Street. The room itself was nice and modern however very warm. The radiator next to the bed just wouldn’t switch off so we had to keep all windows open which was no issue however the noise from the street below & car park was not great 3 out of 4 nights. Very inconsiderate people were sat in a car for half an hour periods with music blaring between 11pm- 5am and then from 6am every morning there was what sounded like machinery going for 2 hours. Which was not at all the fault of the owners however not being able to sleep wasn’t great especially with late nights and early mornings due the nature of tours. The bed also only has 1 pillow each which would have been fine but it was so thin. The option of another pillow would have been appreciated but we checked cupboards and there weren’t any extra. Lighting in the apartment was also very poor. Again not a major issue but you couldn’t see in the wardrobe without using the torch on your phone. Overall a nice place, in a great location. We were maybe just unlucky with the radiator and noise.

We arrived at 2am and the code to open the door to the apartment didn’t work, so the hassle to call someone and everything. No soap.

It was a really good stay the beds were amazingly comfortable!! What topper do you use lol? Really clean room and a great location. Easy to get in the building did encounter an issue at first but called up and they answered and resolved it straight away. Only downside was if it is loud outside you can hear it but this was only an issue on one day and other times it was fine

The apartment building is centrally located in one of Reykjavik’s main city centre and the “rainbow” street. The aparthotel is on the 3rd and 4th levels of the building and a walking distance from the Hallgrimskirkja and a 15m walk to the BSI bus terminal where the Flybus airport buses and Reykjavik Excursion tour coaches arrive and depart. The unit was clean and tidy on our arrival. It is bright and spacious enough for a couple or two people travelling together. The bed and linens smell fresh. The unit is also furnished with cooking facilities such as cooktop, kettle, toaster and coffeemaker as well as a kitchenette equipped with a dishwasher and fridge. Access to our apartment unit was clearly communicated by e-mail with simple and straightforward instructions. A big plus for this property was its proximity to a supermarket (Kronan was only a few steps away from Alva’s entrance door) and many other dining venues nearby. The only downside of this property was the noise from other guest rooms. On the day we checked in, there was a party in one of the units on top of us and the sound of dance music carried on until the early morning making it difficult for us to sleep in peace. The succeeding nights were much quieter although the sounds of motor vehicles and pedestrians were still audible from our room. Overall, we enjoyed our 3 nights stay in Alva and will book this property if Iceland beckons us again.
