The Axel Hotel in Valencia exceeded our expectations. We had shopped on Hotels.com for a nice room in the old quarter of Valencia, and many of the choices were super-expensive, some of them twice the price of a room at Axel. At Axel, the staff was exceptionally pleasant, the breakfast really nice, and every aspect of the hotel was clean and well done. The work-out space was quite good, a rarity in the center of most European cities we have visited. The view from the roof (tiny pool) was exceptional. We now will look for the Axel chain in other cities we hope to visit.

The Staff were extremely helpful, the room was lovely and clean, with option for soft and hard pillows. The location was perfect, just on the edge of the old town, but with a 10 minute walk to take you right into the centre. The bar had some entertainment in the evening which we enjoyed.

The hotel is very welcoming and in a great location. The hotel has been recently renovated are the rooms are quite unique/quirky. Our room wasn't the cleanest the floor was a bit dirty but other than that it was fine. I believe there are 3 lifts in the hotel, 2 of them were not working during our stay, a very minor inconvenience. If the "spa" in this hotel is a deciding factor in your stay, then I would choose somewhere else. I would rate the spa a 1/10 at a push. The jacuzzi was out of service, the sauna heater only clicks in every 20mins so doesnt get remotely warm and the steam room smell was so vile we couldnt even enter it. Feels pointless having it. The plunge pool and rooftop area is pretty special and a great spot to relax and enjoy the amazing views. The hotel bar has great staff and drinks were very good. The location is fantastic in the centre of Valencia This is a LGBT hotel which some travellers may feel uncomfortable with.

The Axel Valencia was a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly and professional, always ready to assist guests. We were delighted with the facilities and the spectacular breakfast. We've stayed at other Axel hotels (San Sebastián, Madrid, Mykonos, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, ​​and Berlin). Valencia has personality and exceptional management and staff! We had planned a 3-night stay but decided to stay 8. The important thing was to feel welcome and comfortable! The property is very nice, feels new, and clean. Good location. Friendly staff. My only complaint is that my room layout was strange such that the bathroom was huge but the bedroom was tiny. Newish hotel is trying to create a cheeky, witty adult vibe but lots of details still left wanting. My room overlooked a noisy street and used lots of cheap materials that I suspect won’t hold up well over time. Bathroom shower was see through with no bathroom door, so not much privacy. AC was not working much to cool the room even turned up to the max. Hot tub is not actually hot, at best it’s lukewarm, and it’s very awkward getting in and out. Music in the gym was deafeningly loud even when I just tried to do some relaxing yoga at 10pm. Best part about the hotel is the price and the nice view from the rooftop mirador. Staff are nice aa well although they forgot to arrange my taxi the first time and I had to ask a second person to redo it. Stayed in 3 different hotels in Valencia over 8 nights and this was my least favorite of the bunch.

The photos look better than reality. The entrance and bar look really nice but as soon as you step into the rest of the hotel you realise the decor and quality of the finish is lacking. We had a standard room and it felt cheap and tacky. The rooftop pool and spa also had a cheap feel to them. You had to get towels from reception. The jacuzzi was cold. It just felt very self-service and not luxurious. The staff are lovely and friendly but it was clear the hotel was understaffed with the reception staff running around to meet guest requests. Overall an okay experience but we had higher expectations from the photos etc. We still had an amazing time in Valencia.

This is a lovely hotel, great location and very friendly receptionists At the time of booking it was not made common knowledge that this is a LGBTQ hotel…….. however, it didn’t ruin our weekend for us, as this hotel was perfect and it didn’t bother us for the status of this hotel.
