The Radcliffe Camera's dome dominates Radcliffe Square while the ancient Bodleian Library whispers with tradition. Explore the Ashmolean Museum's treasures or hunt for unique finds at the Victorian Covered Market. Traditional pubs serving hearty British fare sit alongside international restaurants throughout the walkable historic core. Most attractions are within a 10-minute stroll, with buses connecting to the railway station. Accommodation ranges from historic coaching inns to boutique hotels in converted college buildings, all infused with classic English charm.

Jericho
Jericho brings canal-side charm and creative buzz to Oxford's edge. This trendy area pulses with artistic energy around the Phoenix Picturehouse, independent bookshops, and Victorian pubs. Colourful terraced houses line streets where narrowboats drift by and locals sip coffee. Wander along the Oxford Canal towpaths or catch an art film before dinner. The food scene spans artisan coffee shops to gastropubs with traditional British fare and canal-side brunches. Most spots close by 10pm, so book ahead on weekends. Boutique B&Bs in converted Victorian houses make perfect bases for exploring, with Oxford centre just a 10-minute bus ride away on routes 6 and 7.

Summertown
Summertown delivers a slice of upscale Oxford life with tree-lined streets and a village-like atmosphere just minutes from the city centre. Dining options range from cosy gastropubs to acclaimed Thai and Italian restaurants, all with a decidedly upmarket feel. Elegant bed and breakfasts in converted Victorian homes provide stylish accommodation within this quiet residential haven. Headington
Headington delivers Oxford's quirky side with its famous rooftop shark sculpture and leafy residential charm. Literary fans can explore C.S. Lewis connections in historic Headington Quarry, while the neighborhood's Victorian streets offer a peaceful escape from city centre tourist crowds. Oxford Brookes University brings youthful energy to the area, creating a perfect blend of academic atmosphere and local living. Cosy pubs serve traditional British fare with locals outnumbering visitors at most tables. Excellent bus connections whisk you city centre in minutes, though the neighborhood's hilly terrain rewards walkers with surprising city views. Family-run B&Bs in converted Victorian homes provide an authentic stay experience with personal touches you won't find city centre.

Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel
"Excellent location and clean condition"
easyhotel Oxford
"Well-priced hotel in a very convenient location. There are bus stops just a short walk away, and it’s close to shops and lots of coffee shops. The rooms are very clean and the Wi-Fi is really fast and staffs are very friendly and welcoming. Can’t complain so 10/10!"
Vanbrugh House Hotel
"We had an excellent 2-night stay when I was dropping my daughter off to Oxford U. Very comfortable beds, quiet and cozy. We did not eat at the hotel as there were so many options right outside. There was a small problem with the kettle and we got a new one replaced straight away. Extremely helpful staff! We would stay here again."
Linton Lodge Hotel, BW Signature Collection
"Was very useful for events in the town centre. Some of the decor/internal needs a bit of TLC but looked clean and functional. Lack of gluten free sausages or hash browns on the breakfast buffet was disappointing but I didnt ask for GF so no idea of they would have provided some. Just perfect budget for a one night stopover before a conference though. Easy check in and I got parking. Thanks"
George Street Hotel
"We stayed for 5 days in Oxford on a family trip. We chose the hotel because of its location, and it was definitely the best decision: the location is great, right in the heart of the city! We were able to walk almost everywhere. We stayed in a suite with a balcony, and we really recommend it: drinking that first cup of coffee while sitting on the balcony, taking in the view and feeling the city come to life, was fantastic! We really recommend the hotel: great location, very clean, and very kind and helpful staff. The suite was very comfortable, with a lot of space. And, oh, the balcony! Simply unbeatable. We'll definitely be back!"
Malmaison Oxford
"Room was clean and staff very helpful , great one off historic building , great city centre location next to shopping centre , lots of restaurants on roof terrace , natural history museum within easy walking distance a well worthy visit"
voco Oxford Spires by IHG
"Nice hotel, a pleasant walk from the centre of Oxford. Decent if quite expensive restaurant."
Leonardo Royal Hotel Oxford
"Nice breakfast, nice room, convenient location"
Holiday Inn Oxford by IHG
"We had an excellent stay. Grigori (sorry if I have your name wrong!) was lovely when we checked in and gave 5 star service. Our room was huge and spotless, and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was well worth the cost and was very nice. Rooms have aircon and blackout curtains for excellent sleeping conditions. Don’t bother prebooking parking, there’s plenty of signs and a kiosk to pay inside. It’s £8 a day and you can come and go as you please. You can walk to the park and ride to get the bus into Oxford, it cost £9 for 2 people return. We will definitely return to stay at the Holiday Inn Oxford next time we come down here."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Oxford
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Oxford is during January, October, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. To fully appreciate the city’s key landmarks and cultural offerings, it's advisable to stay for at least 2 to 3 days. This duration allows you to explore the prestigious university, fascinating museums, stunning cathedral, historic churches, and remarkable architecture, as well as enjoy the urban gardens and vibrant theatre scene. Visiting during these months not only offers great value for money but also ensures a budget-friendly experience.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For travellers heading to Oxford, Hotels.com may offer last-minute deals by visiting the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals section, where discounted hotels near your travel date could be available. You are encouraged to enable email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on flash sales, ensuring you may discover opportunities to save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping feature within the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so if rooms become available or prices drop, you're more likely to see them and book a last-minute getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may vary depending on factors such as the hotel’s location, star rating, and time of year, so being flexible with your dates could help you save on your stay in an Oxford hotel. For those seeking distinctive experiences, boutique hotels can offer a more personalised touch and sometimes better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we may suggest alternative dates that could help you find a more affordable option.
- Consider your location: Hotels located near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive; however, Oxford's superb public transport links may allow you to discover a more affordable independent hotel slightly further out that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
