We spent 3 days at this hotel in Sucre. It is barely 1 year old and is a very attractive adaptation of an old colonial mansion which has been completely rebuilt with the addition of a 3rd floor and roof top deck. The hotel is located about 2 ½ blocks from the city’s main plaza & is directly across the street for the entrance to the Museum of the Convent of Santa Clara. The rooms are ample in size & nicely decorated. Indeed the whole hotel is furnished with custom made wood furniture, which, while not exactly to my taste, is handsomely executed and gives a unifying sense to the hotel. The owner/manager is a Dutch born man in his mid 50’s who has been in Bolivia for over 20 years and has clearly built this hotel as a labor of love,
Breakfast in served in a large room on the 2nd floor. While it is quite adequate – the usual coffee, juices, some fruit, bread & cheese, there is nothing special about it. Our room was on the top floor with virtually a private deck along side of it. We had our evening cocktails there enjoying the terrific view of the city. The staff was pleasant & accommodating, but since we speak Spanish we are not able to comment on their abilities in other languages.
