Queens Hotel Cheltenham

Queens Hotel Cheltenham

10/10 Excellent
"The hotel makes a spectacular first impression, inside and out. The façade, entrance lobby, beautiful staircase and high ceilings are stunning and we were very impressed. Every member of staff we interacted with, day and night, was genuinely friendly and polite. In particular, we received a lovely enthusiastic warm welcome when we checked in on Monday afternoon. The room was perfectly clean, and had plenty of helpful features like space to hang clothes, easily accessible plug sockets and a fabulous bed. The bathroom was spotlessly clean too and had all sorts of lovely-smelling toiletries. We liked the provision of coffee-bags rather than instant coffee. They tasted great! The view from our room looked out across the top of the porch of the hotel, and this did look a little bit weather-beaten and had some untidy-looking wiring for lighting the hotel front. If this could be tidied up a little, it would be great, as there is a wonderful view beyond it, of a pretty park full of trees and flowers. Overall, this was a spectacularly beautiful hotel to stay in and the staff were wonderful."

Hatherley Manor Hotel & Spa

Hatherley Manor Hotel & Spa

8/10 Good
"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are slightly worn but it’s a given with the nature of the property. Rooms were clean and had no issues. Modern bathroom. Staff attentive and helpful. The spa is dated, and not all facilities were working. It felt more like hotel pool facilities rather than a spa itself. Great to have included in the price of the room to use if you want. Breakfast was okay, small selection of included made to order options. Full breakfast with an additional £5 charge. Eggs were not good quality, recommend hotel to change supplier."

"We had an enjoyable stay here. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of parking. The bathroom was a bit dated though and I was surprised there wasn’t any hair conditioner (only shampoo and hand/body wash) so I would bring my own conditioner next time. Pool was ok but smaller than it looks in the photos so can get a bit too crowded at times."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Gloucester

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Gloucester is during January, February, and December, when hotel prices are typically lower. For a fulfilling experience that allows you to explore the city’s key historical landmarks, cultural attractions, and charming countryside, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. This duration offers great value for money, enabling you to enjoy the magnificent cathedral, engaging museums, and the friendly atmosphere of the city, all while remaining budget-friendly. With the possibility that prices may drop during these months, it’s an excellent opportunity for those travelling on a budget.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals to Gloucester, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted hotel options as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay informed about flash sales and exclusive last-minute promotions, increasing your chances of saving. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see the best options and make an informed choice. This way, you'll be ready to book your spontaneous getaway when the perfect opportunity arises.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more affordable stay in a Gloucester hotel. For those in search of something special, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and potentially better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price tends to be on the higher side, we may recommend alternative dates that could lead you to a more favourable rate.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive, but with Gloucester’s superb public transport options, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
