We had been looking forward to staying at Sunset Sailors in Benidorm, but unfortunately, our stay was marred by several issues that, in our opinion, are unacceptable for a modern rental apartment.
We encountered access problems right upon arrival. The phone and code entry system did not work properly at either the complex gate or the building entrance; at both locations, we had to rely on people already inside to let us in.
The most serious issue, however, was fire safety. There were no smoke detectors in any of the bedrooms or the living area, nor was there any fire-extinguishing equipment in the apartment. We asked if they could install smoke detectors, but were told it wasn't necessary because it wasn't legally required. For us, this isn't just about meeting minimum legal requirements, but about ensuring basic safety for the people living and sleeping in the apartment. Smoke detectors are a very simple and inexpensive safety measure.
The balcony door could not be locked, either. This is particularly concerning given that it is possible to climb from one apartment's balcony to another.
The shower had very poor water pressure—so poor that it was difficult to properly wet our hair.
In addition, the beds were hard. To us, it felt almost like lying on a hard surface, and we slept poorly as a result.
The kitchen was also poorly equipped with even the most basic utensils, such as spatulas.
Taken together, these issues mean that, unfortunately, we cannot recommend
