We stayed for a week in a standard room. Mann's is not on the beach, but it is only a short walk to get there. The beach is not amazingly good, but the coral just off it is fantastic. We ate at the hotel frequently during the week and were not disappointed. The prices were reasonable, and the mixed drinks generous. The staff struck a nice balance between having a presence but not being obtrusive. The garden is extremely lovely and the pool just fantastic. The standard rooms do not have hot water but have a very comfortable bed, a fully-functional mosquito net (not always the case in some hotels) and effective air conditioning. My requests for an early breakfast and transport were honoured in a timely fashion - to the minute, in fact. Since I first visited Pemuteran, there have been 3 mosques built, so the call to prayer mentioned in other reviews is likely to be an inescapable fact of life wherever you stay. All part of life's rich tapestry!
There are much grander places to stay in the area. Being based in Jakarta, the cheap airfare means I have more to spend on a more upmarket hotel, but frankly I would rather stay at Mann's. We felt welcomed and comfortable there and plan to return.
