Un lugar sencillo para descansar
El personal muy amable y atento, un lugar tranquilo, rodeado de naturaleza. Tuvimos la oportunidad de mirar un perezoso en su habitad, así como otros animales silvestres.

The bungalows are so charming and spread out. Breakfast options were nice. Beach is right across the street. Indian restaurant is tasty with vegetarian options. The only note is there is no air and it is hot and rather humid. For me from Florida it was fine and pleasant with ceiling fans but if you like it cold be aware.

2/10 Poor

Bait and switch, false advertising, No hot water
We had two nights booked for a bungalow and we knew going in that it would be more rustic lodging than other destinations, since Puerto Viejo is a more laid-back vibe. However, our bungalow was nothing like the pictures, so do not expect your bungalow to look anything like the pictures. When we went to take showers the first night, the hot water did not work. So I went to the front desk and asked for someone to help. The young lady at the desk said that he would stop by in 5 minutes. When 45 minutes went by and it started to get later, I stopped by and told them that he still had not come, she went in the back and said loudly that I was crying about not having hot water. First of all, I did not cry so I do not appreciate her snarky attitude. Secondly, hot water is not a big request when you are paying $130 a night for a bungalow. Her comment was unprofessional and unnecessary. The following day, friendly workers tried to fix the water all day but it was clear to use that this was an existing problem that was not able to be repaired. They had no other bungalows available, so we packed up our things and left early for the next leg of our trip. When we asked to refund the second night, we were told it was not possible.

Not the best in Cocles
The bungalows needs improvements, no TV, no amenities, some parts of the roofs are falling down, the beds are so unconfortable and the pillows had a bad smell (like humid), I don't think we will go back there.

Unique bungalows in the South Caribbean!
Upon arrival I was greeted by Minerva at the front desk who was extremely welcoming. After letting us know all the important information about the premises and their services we were treated to a wonderful welcome cocktail. Breakfast was included and was terrific! The coffee was great as well. This is my second time staying at La Costa de Papito and I will definitely be back! Keep it up!

seemed like a place that was nice several years ago but they have let it go over the years. mold growing over all the cabins and they have alot of standing water bringing in so many mosquitoes that we couldn't enjoy the patio. the cabin roof also had leaks and dirty floor. their restaurant was also a joke! $15 for an elaborate chicken breast by itself with no sides... but even if i wanted it they were out of it and many other menu items. theres a reason no one came to dinner despite the local restaurants being pretty crowded. the owner also charged me twice $130 for the night but did refund me after numerous annoying emails. about the only good thing i can say about it was the night receptionist was very friendly and helpful with activities. but do yourself a favor and avoid this place that would be better suited as a $25/night hostel and go to Le Chameleon. same price but a 100x better.

We stayed in a nice bungalow on the property during the off season. One of the best beaches is located 5 minutes walk from it. The staff is very nice and the rooms are well equipped with the essentials. The breakfast was just ok.

Not the typical place...in a good way, or sort of.
South Caribbean landscape is not as developed as the Pacific , thus, you need to be open and flexible about what the hotel can offer. I don't recommend going with kids as there is no much to do with them. Other than that, if you want to be in a quiet place (except at night when the hauling monkeys start singing ) this is a place worth trying.

Nice hotek, good location, basic amenities
The hotel is nice, and clean. It’s location is the best thing because is close to cocles beach, close 75 m walk. Also you can walk to puerto viejo in 25 mins . 2.5 kms The room is ok but very basic, so no AC and no TV, which is ok for a disconnected vacations but if you’re expecting them won’t be a nice surprise. The AC was not needed (or the tv) because the 3 ceiling fans can keep a fresh environment easily. And at night the temperature goes down. The breakfast is ok, overall a good place to stay given the know limitations.

Grandma and gramps take all to Costa Rica
Our stay at Costa de Papito was wonderful. We were a group of 12 traveling with 6 adults and 6 kids. We rented 4 bungalows and the sleeping accommodations worked out great with at least 2 beds in each, one with 3 beds. Gramps and I appreciated there was always a pit of hot coffee in the lobby and kids loved the variety of fresh juices and the staff willingness to serve the juices up with Spears of fresh fruit and umbrellas. We were not thrilled with all the traffic in Puerto Viejo and the lack of parking (and we were driving a huge van) so we ate many of our meals at the hotel. The food was always fresh, homemade and delicious with a different special each day. The staff remembered your names and always greeted us with a smile. They kept tables pushed together so we always had “our” table for 12 when we showed up. The beach is a very short walk away and was great for those surfing. We had small kids and while they loved the big waves we kept Hem in life jackets and always holding onto an adult, there is a very strong current, not the best for small kids but again they thought it was great. Gramps and I enjoyed the hammock and Adirondack chairs on the porch of our cabin where we enjoyed watching hummingbirds, toucans, some kind of wild cat like animal and some pig like animal. Very enjoyable stay.

Hot Cabin, No AC,Fridge, chairs or cabinets
There were no chairs, closets or cabinets to put away our belongings. No air-conditioner for use during the a very hot season, No fridge to store and keep drinks cool. Room was extremely hot during day and could not enter but briefly during daylight hours.stayed one sleepless hot night and left early in A.M. I have stayed at other hotels in area and this experience was very disappointing,The beach is across the street but indoor cover with cool air and cold drinks is also essential. Would not recommend. Beware the shower faucets are not labeled properly

Primitive Hotel
To be fair, I booked this hotel because it was my family's first trip to Costa Rica and the Caribbean coast. And my wife, wanted to stay at the same hotel that the family booked. (By the way, my wife and I live in Costa Rica.) So when I booked the property I did not check for amenities such as air conditioning, and swimming pool. of, which, there were none! We were booked for 3 nights, but only stayed one night and moved to a different property that had both air conditioning and a swimming pool. There was very little security at the property and of course since there was no air conditioning the windows, had to stay open and some of the windows did not have screens. There was a small safe, but no place to keep and protect our computers. At night, we had to use the mosquito netting and that further restricted air flow. So we woke up wet and clammy.
