On my first visit I had a light, comfortable and pleasantly furnished room. However, when I returned a week later my room was clean and basic but had an "unloved" air: dark brown woodwork throughout and a door where the lock had clearly been changed on 2-3 occasions with no repair of the damage. The only "picture" was a leaf print on a piece of curled paper inside an old black frame.
The breakfast, although plentiful was uninspiring e.g. tinned fruit rather than fresh, the cooked breakfast consisted of baked beans, egg, sausage and bacon. I had requested a gluten free meal but apart from a slice of white bread none of the gluten-free "bread" items on the list were available and the only gluten-free cereals on offer were honey-coated cornflakes and rice krispies. Muesli or a nutty granola would have been a much healthier and enjoyable option.
Without exception staff were helpful and courteous and the location of the accommodation is close to lovely walks along the River.
