A disappointing stay at the aqua hotel Boracay, as a so called 5 star hotel. Check in was good however they changed our room last minute from the junior suite to the premier room, which meant we missed out on the bath tub.
At check in they asked if we wanted our room to be made up during our stay and what time . I said yes, 12 pm. However they did not make the room up during our stay. When I asked on our second to last day, they did eventually make up the room, you shouldn’t have to ask for this.
As I walked into the room it did smell. I had read this in previous reviews, claiming it was the curtains. It’s not the curtains, it’s a mouldy heat pump/aircon unit in my opinion. They need to sort that out, Smells horrible
The rooms have no irons, that’s poor. Do I have to call reception from my premium room to get one? That’s not 5 stars quality.
The rooms also have no minibar or food. They have two small complementary waters and two tea bags, two coffee capsules. Questionable for a 5 star hotel, also after they take a 6000 peso deposit on check in.
They have two sizeable pool areas. The bigger one closer to the entrance is falling apart and I almost slipped on a tile that came off completely as I stepped on it. I showed the staff. They just smiled and laughed a little. Be very careful with the areas of missing tiles, the edges are sharp and could cause injury, especially with children. See pictures below.
