The downtown historic district is definitely worth seeing. The beach at sunrise and sunset was lovely. The 3 mile drive to Fort Clinch was beautiful. Don't miss Boneyard Beach on Talbot Island (about a mile trail). This is a lovely area.

While exploring the area, we connected with very friendly local folks who were so nice to chat with us, share some tips about local favorite spots and even treat us to a beer at Mocama. This corner of Florida is worth checking out, for sure!

I went for a girls long weekend and fell in love with the area. The beaches are beautiful. The island, especially historical downtown, is clean and walkable and filled with great restaurants and shops. Its a lovely place to visit.

I would stay in the historic downtown district if you want to be able to walk to shops and restaurants. The beach wasn't far from that (couple miles) and parking in town was easy, so it depends on your personal preference.

The public beaches in the area are really nice, and the free parking is a definite plus. Also, check out Amelia River Cruises for a great opportunity to learn about the island and the area.

Beautiful town - magical at night when all trees are lit. Wonderful historical houses to see. Very walkable.
"Our first nite there, we walked across the street to "Sliders" and ate some dinner. They have indoor and out door dining. There is a DQ down the road within walking distance. Great facility across from the beach with a swimming pool."
