Just returned from a weekend break in Newcastle.
Hotel was spotless and had a central location, convenient for the station, shopping, restaurants and pubs. Decent breakfast. There was a bit of external noise from the inevitable police/ambulance sirens and the usual stag and hen parties returning in the early hours, which is typical of many city centres.
Service was good, barring one member of the bar staff who thought their priority was to replenish the fridges rather than serve their only customer (me). "I'll be with you in a minute" after ignoring me for a couple on mins while filling the first fridge, then going onto start filling a second one, before I decided not to bother buying a drink there.
I wonder if they would consider saying the same thing to a fridge, "I'll be with you in a minute, while I serve this customer"? No, I thought not. I'd hope it was a one-off.
