Not impressed but it was cheap
When I was searching for places to stay on hotels.com, I filtered it to only show me places that would not charge ahead of time and where I could pay on arrival. This place showed up in my list, it said I would be charged $0 to book, and yet I was still charged the full amount upon reservation. This was weeks before my actual check in date. Then I was immediately hit with a bunch of emails asking me to fill out paperwork and the emails kept coming! So I opened it up and then I started to read all of the ridiculous rules including a rule that you can’t have any guests. No hotel would have such a crazy rule. I tried to cancel but it said the last day to have received a refund was the day before … this was a month before my reservation and I would get no refund! So I had no choice but to keep the booking. Then they wanted me to do an entire ID verification. Something I’ve never had to do for any other booking and I travel frequently. I didn’t have time for all that so I kept getting reminder messages. I found it quite annoying. I did the ID bit about 3 days before my arrival. When it came to my arrival day, I got there and the key code wasn’t working. I called and they didn’t answer when I called. I ended up texting and got a reply that way and got a new code. Then the elevator was broken. Apparently the elevator is frequently broken in that building. Then the WiFi password they gave me was incorrect. It had a typo in it and they had to text me the right one.
