My experience this time around was not so pleasant. My disability rights under HIPPA were violated. I have a disability and every time I book a hotel. I always let the hotel know upfront on the booking notes, that I have a small service animal. I requested a lamp around maybe 11am that morning, because the one in my room was not working. So time had passed. It was around 6pm, and I asked the front desk guy, that works the middle shift for the lamp. I waited until he finished with his other guess, only for him to be upset that he had to come to my room. When he came room, he saw my service animal. Instead of him asking me about my service animal. He tried to charge me a pet fee. Once the card decline, he came to my room. I asked him? Why was he trying to charge my card? He said; that he reviewed my account and seen that I wasn’t charged a pet fee. I told him, the person that checked me in, could not charge me a pet fee, because he knew that I had a service animal. He then stated; that he wasn’t going to remove the fee until I show him documents. So I walked to the front desk with him, while providing him proof, which I didn’t have too. I told him, that he can only ask me 2 questions by law. He lied that he did not see it on my booking, then he tried to play victim as if he didn’t know why I was upset, because he literally broke the law, and violated my disability rights. I am seeking an attorney, because I told him that I was recording the conversation.
