Stay at Hotel Julian in SF
The location was downtown San Francisco, walking distance from restaurants, and public transportation. We had breakfast at the pub on the corner from the hotel, and dinner at the Korean restaurant another block away. The coolest thing about the hotel is Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window was filmed there, and looking up or down the iconic staircase. Oh let's not forget the price was great!

Won’t stay here again
Stayed up late and was trying to sleep in but the maid service had their walkie talkies blasting up and down the hallway. Then, the front desk called to remind of us checkout which was unnecessary. Just call at 11! The lady on Saturday morning was really rude leaving and I couldn’t really understand her since her English was so poor. It’s sad when employees ruin an experience I doubt the owners would have of approved of her behavior.

Mostly, a "just average" hotel
The room was clean and fairly updated but was small. The location, even in Nob Hill, is so-so with the usual SF homeless and poop ever-present. There was always a problem in the "loading-unloading only" zone right in front of the hotel, which always had cars parked in it all day and night. The elevator is often slow to use and there are no porters to help with luggage. The bar area, however, is quite nice with friendly service. Parking garages are nearby, but expect to pay $40-$50 for daily/overnight parking.Overall, a 2 1/2-3 star hotel. There are a few decent restaurants within walking distance, but you may want to take Lyft or Uber for the Union Square area.

I Was Wow'd
The new remodel is excellent. What a little hidden gem. I was surprised to find this hotel and for such a great price! My room was big and the king size bed was so so comfy. The bathroom remodel was top notch. And everyone at the hotel was gracious and attentive. There's even a cool bar off the lobby where I asked the bartender if he could make me a Manhattan. Not only was he friendly and helpful, he served up one of the best rye Manhattans I've had in a while.

Definitely A Gem!
The front desk staff was definitely amazing! He gave me an upgrade for the room I'm not even sure why lol. The lobby decor was amazing. Room was clean and cozy. And I absolutely loved the bathroom, especially it came with a built-in Bluetooth in the mirror! I'll definitely come back to stay here again if I ever am back in town 🙌!

Pros: Clean room, good closet space, nice shower, big tv, common areas smelled good, always saw security, comfy beds, lovely AC/Heat unit Cons: No internet connection anywhere, elevator was always in use, small sink. The area is definitely what you would expect in a larger city. One block too much = sketchy. But the nearby food places are great! Great corner stores. Parking garage down the street kept our car for $40 a night and was safe. There is a bar but never saw it open.

A wonderful upgrade from the old hotel Vertigo, the hotel Julian is still in the grand opening stages with the kinks being worked out, such as the bar, food service and construction still going on throughout the hotel but despite this, the stay was very nice with a wonderfully updated room and very friendly staff. Hopefully the rest of the Tenderloin follows suit and reconstructs, upgrades and rebrands itself into something worth visiting.

Perfect
We had an excellent stay at hotel Julian. Staff was amazing especially Tamer who welcomed us. The room was very clean and lots of feature. Be aware the tv allows you to broadcast , and you even have a bluetooth mirror for music streaming in the bathroom! They serve a quick breakfast with hot beverages, nothing fancy, but sufficient enough for me as I don’t eat a lot in the morning. Would highly recommand as the hotel was well above my expectations for the price.
