Quirky, fun and so friendly hostel. Met people of all ages from Japan, Chile and US. Clean, well-priced. Newer washer and dryer. Patio was so inviting with small fountain under a shade tree. Billie is a wonderful host!

I found the place to be unique in its room rental setup. I've never stayed in a location where you share a room with others. It was a fun experience, and I had the opportunity to chat with the other guests. I highly recommend staying at Billie’s.

This Hostel is a wonderful find! It is on bus routes for easy transportation, and near several eateries. I liked meeting people from outside Alaska, especially Jorge, a Chilean biker who biked alone from the southern tip of South America to the Beaufort Sea!
Billie and her son, Walter, made me feel at home, and I enjoyed their company. I will return, and will also tell my friend in our village about this gem!

When I arrived, my assigned room was fully occupied. After consulting the management, I was assigned another room that was a bit more private & comfortable. I had to hunt for a towel to shower.
This place is within a short walking distance to a few shops, but I would still recommend a car or bike to explore greater Fairbanks. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom/kitchen area was clean, and check-out was much easier than my check-in.
Despite the small hiccups, I would stay here again and/or recommend a budget-conscious friend stay here as well.

Positives are that its affordable, mon-fri the city bus services make it easy and cheap to get around, the staff are very lovable, guests are quiet friendly and respectful and its a very flexible check-out time which is a big perk. Negatives are its a hefty minimum 2 to 3 hour walk anywhere worth going on the weekends with NO bus service. Definitely a tight squeeze with many guests in a small area, groceries and taxis are very expensive. If you stay in the gazebo you will be walking thru 5 doorways and 2 hallways to get to the shared bathroom. Overall a good experience if your flexible and willing to adjust

Easy check in and check out process. Billie is super sweet and accommodating. The only critique I have is that the furniture and bedding is a little old, but it all still works.

Billie raised her family in this house, her home. In the '60's she was known for her kindness by the local school kids. She would bake fresh bread and offer it to them on their walk home past this place, her home. With such grace she offers travelers the opportunity to experience a warm home atmosphere not found in many settings.
