I prefer staying in boutique types of hotels that have charm and character and Casa Emelia B&B was exactly what I was looking for. I stayed in room #1 which is small and cozy, but perfect for me. My cousin stayed in room #6 on the second floor, which is considerably larger, and she loved it.
The courtyard and breakfast area are so charming and beautifully decorated. The staff were all kind, friendly, and helpful. I dealt mostly with Marsella, and she was very eager to ensure that I had everything I needed, and she always had a smile on her face. She is accustomed to using Google Translate with those of us who speak just a bit of Spanish and she was always very patient.
I know most everyone has commented on how amazing the breakfast is and I wholeheartedly agree. The fruit plate was perfect, and my spinach omelet that I had all three days I stayed there was yummy.
Casa Emelia is located on a quiet street, but two blocks away is a street called Calle Rio Lerma that has tons of restaurants to choose from. One night we ate at Salon Rios and it was very good. There is also a really good gelato shop on Rio Ebro just one block away in the same direction as Calle Rio Lerma.
If I ever visit Mexico City again, I will definitely stay at Casa Emelia again.
