Clean and great location
Central location with free parking. Room was small but very clean. Bed was a bit hard but whole experience was comfortable. Only downside was that the shower had to be hand held as the wall bracket did not work.

If you're on a tight budget, sure :)
Most things appeared broken, like shower doors in the bathroom couldn't shut tight and the toilet paper holder was broken (They fixed it after a couple of days with some duct tape!). The light bar above the bed was very ... wonky... I was afraid it would fall in my face. The bed sheets were alright, but there was a burn hole from a cigarette in the blanket. The room is tiny, but it's okay, though! From my stay there, I'd say 1 of the 5 or 6 employees speak English. One of them didn't understand "31", the room number. I can live with that, but the last day we were checking out, the guy at the counter tried to have us pay 136 euros for what he said was "City Tax", which on the sign says 0.99 euros/day/person... And we didn't stay for more than 2 months ;), we stayed 5 nights. I convinced him he was wrong after a long long chat back and forth, but he didn't understand me very well. They keep the room clean it appears, but everything is so old and broken that you don't really notice it.

Friendly if slightly down at heel
Lovely staff. The decor could do with updating (not on purely aesthetic grounds, my shower door fell off!), and I only had one power socket. However the room was adequate, and well cleaned and serviced. All the desk staff spoke brilliant English and were friendly and helpful.

Good Value
Its a budget hotel its clean and the staff were efficient. I paid £17 a night and got more than i expected. I was only there 3 nights to visit my daughter who is studying in Lille and it means i can visit her more ofter, If you want luxuary hotel, pay for one. Some of the reviews for this hotel where quite outrageous as it is a budget hotel and it was great value for money.

Don't bother!
After a long drive across from France the last thing you want is to be greeted by a rude receptionist! After actually being questioned over why we are in France if we can't speak french, she then couldn't understand why we couldn't hit Hotel Star on the barrier in order for her to raise it. And yet the words "Hotel Star" never appeared on the barrier! To sum up our experience we told her to cancel the booking & proceeded into the centre of Lille. After we parked the car we were extended a warm welcome at the Grand Hotel Lille!

Just for short stay
It has good location near metro station, free wifi, good breakfast, English speaking staff, on the other hand the room and bathroom don't look clean, you can feel the smell of cigarettes. Noisy in the evening.

Satisfied customer
All staff were extremely pleasant and helpful including the cleaning staff. We had clean towels everyday, without request, which is unusual even in a 4 star hotel. This a 1 star motel which is a little tired but is clean and is ideal as an overnight stopover. We actually stayed 3 nights because of our circumstances. We have no regrets. This is inexpensive accomodation, easy to find close to all amenities including a major shopping centre and close to the new sports stadium under construction. The hotel is next to slip road off the autoroute but above it. We are light sleepers but did not suffer any disturbance during the night. Other motel options close by were right at the side of the autoroute

Basics are included
Stars Hotel has the basics only. The bedroom was small and could have been cleaner. Bathroom was OK. There was no chair in the room to stay by the small table. A mall is across the street ( to escape the very expensive breakfast rate) and subway in within minutes walk (Lille center is no more than a ten minute ride). Highways are close but its noise was barely heard in th room

Hotel Stars Lillie France-A Good Choice
As always there are pros and cons to a hotel stay. We booked because of the other fairly good reviews, location and price. If you want a place to sleep-this is a good choice. Not a good choice if you are expecting a luxury hotel experience. The room was cleaned and left us with the extra towels after our first request without additional requests. Minimal English is spoken by the staff-but hey-it is France. We all got on well enough and they were very nice. A simple "good morning" in French is a appreciated and goes far in good will. The hotel is not so easy to locate-we drove in from Brussels. The parking lot was going through remodeling so we had to park on the side street-somewhat of an inconvenience-but not the fault of the hotel. The neighborhood is nice-we felt safe. The huge mall is withing walking distance and at Flunch you can get a good cup of coffee and dinner-all buffet. There is a large grocery store on the 2nd floor to purchase water-breakfast rolls, etc.. if you are on a budget. There is also a McDonald's close by. Note that on Sunday-everything closes early-we arrived late Sunday and only had that option to eat our dinner. Lillie is 3 hours from Paris and very close to WWI sites in Belgium. It is a good choice for the weary traveler who is interested in exploring the area, not having a luxury hotel experience. We also were able to connect to the Wi-Fi OK.

Mixed bag, but generally good for the price
You're not going to want to stay here on a holiday, but for a 1 night stopover on a road trip it's very good value, staff are very friendly and helpful, and it's located close to the motorway network between Lille and the rest of France. Facilities are basic, but our room was clean and tidy, everything worked well, and the staff were excellent. Showers are just plastic cubicles, but had a good strong jet of water. Some mould on ceilings, and one of our group had brown water for the first 20 secs, but fine apart from that! Neighbourhood seems safe enough, just off main A1 route, about 10 mins from central Lille
