Alta Bay has so few reviews- there has not been a balanced set of perspectives.
Firstly, let me say- if you base your review soley on the views of Table Mtn. & the grounds' lush landscaping- than five stars would be justified.
However, if you include the tiny, flimsy
Bay Suite & its miniscule bathroom; then you might draw another conclusion.
Or if you realized your "suite" is situated right underneath the owners' active garage- you might think otherwise.
Early mornings, the garage opener would be activated.
Lots of audible activity there, as well.
The room I asked successfully to move to, was much larger & more liveable.
Unfortunately, there was no hot water in the Loft during my stay.
The towels smelled unsanitary.
But perhaps the worst part of my stay- not including a bedbug on my sheet- was the proprietress herself.
She was very nosy- despite having lots of security cameras facing all room entrances, etc.
One time, while bringing a pair of slippers to me- I opened my door for her.
But instead of just delivering the slippers; she waltzed right into my room, & made a cursory visual evaluation.
That was not respecting my privacy.
Of course, there's also no DND sign.
