First off, the Sheraton staff was excellent. Every person we encountered, from concierge to cleaning, was friendly and helpful. The site, itself, was clean and respectable.
However, the hotel, itself, is NOT located in Vancouver and its specs are a little misleading. It is actually located in Richmond, more than an hour away from the center of Vancouver. This fact seems to be overlooked, in both the hotel's written descriptions and with Expedia staff I spoke when booking my stay. Although a good hotel, it is nonetheless in the middle of nowhere. Besides the single restaurant on the property, everything else was a bit of a hike. I felt safe in the neighborhood, but it is a neighborhood not unlike my own, with residential houses in every direction and small strip malls catering to the needs of those who live there. It's a solid hotel for business travelers, airline crews and such (as evident in the number of pilots and flight attendants coming in and out), but not for vacationers on holiday. This forced us to move from the Richmond site to the Sheraton in actual downtown Vancouver.
Although the experience worked out for the best, I hope I am not charged for both hotels during our stay.
