Our GPS took us to a quiet and tranquil block of town, only a block and half from the main plaza and the beautiful colonial church. We were immediately met by Omar, the owner, and he and his staff made us feel at home right away. Our room on the 2nd floor - spacious and with much decorative details and with two balconies facing the hacienda type court with a zen-like pool with peaceful sound of trickling water. Everything from the skin products in the bathroom/jacuzzi to the down comforter and the quiet solar-powered a/c unit we truly enjoyed our suite during our stay. Early am we would take advantage of the big palapa facing the gardens, enjoying cafe de olla with sounds of frogs, roosters and crickets by the small river and church bells, as the town was waking up. We researched the hotels in Comala and decided on Los Suspiros, despite very few reviews and we are so happy that we did. We simply couldn’t’ have had a better anniversary stay than we did. The owner, Omar, an architect who won a national award for the ecodesign and restoration of this very hotel, even took the time to take us El Jacal de San Antonio on our anniversary day - a fabulous restaurant in the high mountains - reminding us of Switzerland - with breathtaking views of El Nevado de Colima (vulcano) and small ranches with horses and cattle. We slept so well that night. Thank you Omar and your staff for our memorable stay!!
