I stayed at the Rio Hotel & Casino from Thursday through Sunday, and unfortunately it was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve had in Las Vegas. The biggest issue was the elevator situation. Only four elevators seemed to be working the entire weekend for such a huge hotel tower. The lines to get on an elevator were absolutely insane — honestly longer than some Disneyland rides. Guests were packed shoulder to shoulder, waiting forever just to go up or down. People were getting so angry and frustrated that there were almost fist fights breaking out near the elevator areas.
To make matters worse, the air conditioning was not working properly, which made the stay extremely uncomfortable, especially in Las Vegas heat. The plumbing was also terrible, with slow drains and overall poor room maintenance that made the hotel feel outdated and neglected.
A major Las Vegas resort should be able to manage weekend crowds and special events and maintain basic hotel functions, but this stay felt chaotic from start to finish. Between the broken elevators, bad AC, and plumbing issues, the experience seriously took away from the trip. I really hope Rio management addresses these problems because guests deserve much better.
