Miscommunication Leads to Disappointment
i was very upset and frustrated because hotels.com did not update the room count—even though The Doubletree sent them a notice after the renovations—so i booked a suite that wasn’t available and got downgraded. I went to the hotel manager first who did their best to make up for this by giving us free breakfast passes, because we made the reservation through a 3rd party. Then i spoke to a Hotels.com agent to see if we could get a partial refund but they said “since it was already resolved” they couldn’t do anything more for us and that we should have come to them first, however when i asked if i had gone to them first would we have gotten a partial refund they said they “couldn’t guarantee one”. So, it seems like no matter what we were at a loss. Hotels.com needs to follow through with their updates and checking with all hotels to make sure everything is accurate. My partner and i tried to make the best of our trip after that..
