Would certainly return for another visit!
Hubby and I recently celebrated our anniversary in Savannah. Rather than stay in a hotel we wanted something more personal, so we booked a three night stay at the FPI. There’s much to like about this property, but every B&B I have visited has been a bit quirky and this one is also. First, they advertise free parking, but there’s no parking lot, no portico, nothing. Customers use the on street parking that is generally available in the area. Watch for the signs which say when the street sweeper is coming
through, and the parking is indeed free. We ended up a couple of blocks away from the inn, but we saw other folks get lucky and park close by.
The Inn faces a busy street (Whitaker) but the entrance is on W Hall. It’s a steep marble half staircase and you buzz them upon arrival. After check in, they give you a code. We had to wait
a bit while the attendant helped another couple, but the service is amazing. She asked us what
we wanted to do and what we wanted to eat, then gave us a map pointing out suggestions. Then she took us to our room, which had a sitting area, a bar area, and a private bathroom with
a claw foot tub. The room was serviced each day, which is a big plus nowadays.
The inn is very historic, and that’s either charming or annoying, depending on your tastes. We liked the decor and food, including wine in the late afternoon and dessert in the evening. Annoying aspects include the creaky stairs, very dim lighting, a rather small television, and the noisy street.
