We stayed at Hyatt House BWI for three weeks during the water removal phase of my homeowner insurance claim, so this review is based on a long stay, not just a night or two. At first I really liked the hotel and even recommended it to friends. We started in a small basic room which was fine, but once my insurance upgraded us to a suite I liked it even more. The suite had a full kitchen and felt more like an apartment. The cleaning staff was very kind; they didn’t speak English but we communicated with gestures and they were always helpful. The last few days were frustrating. Four days before checkout we lost power in the room and it took over two hours to fix. The bigger issue happened the night before we left when the heater stopped working on a snowy night. I called multiple times for over three hours and was always told someone would come “shortly,” only to later learn the maintenance person was also the shuttle driver and was busy driving. The problem wasn’t the technical issue itself—things happen—it was the lack of honesty. They refused to move us temporarily to another room to stay warm unless we fully moved all our belongings, which made no sense since we had one day left and two kids with us. I had to leave the hotel with my kids, drive home, grab heaters, and return. Luckily we live about 20 minutes away; otherwise we would have had no option. We spent the whole night using my heaters.
