This was our first “Guesthouse” experience. There was no staff onsite. They did communicate and respond via email promptly. Checkin was easy. Room was comfortable. Kitchen was well equip and spacious. There was no oven only stove top burners, microwaves or toaster (not a toast we over). Free coffee/expresso/lattes!! Ample frig space. Shared room was very comfortable.

Struttura comoda, vicino alla ringroad, camera pulita e confortevole. Cucina fantastica con postazioni per cucinare comodissime (la migliore del mio viaggio) dotate di ogni tipo di utensile/posate/piatti/pentole. Macchinetta per bevande calde a disposizione.

Godo cooking facilities, clean, quiet. The only criticism is that we struggled to get in contact with the host over the phone to obtain our room number and key. Eventually a member of staff arrived and sorted it out.

Check in was terrible. They didn’t send email with code. Had to call Expedia to figure things out which took an hour to figure out. This happened to 3 other groups when we were there. Staff was rude when they showed up later. Terribly ran place!!

There was no hot water on the whole property for several hours. We checked in at 9:30PM and the hot water didn’t come back until the next morning when it trickled from the sink.

I did not stay at Frosthouse. I cancelled my reservation after I found out that it was not near the airport and did not provide transport to the airport. REFUND MY PAYMENT!

Not as promised

The hotel was not at all as the picture shows. My feeling is that it’s not maintained. The staff did not speak English or Icelandic and therefore not easy to communicate. And instead of staying there for the 2 days as was the plan, we left after the first night. And therefore I don’t recommend it at all.

A new owner, still learning how to run a hotel?

Positive things first: the room was clean as well as the public kitchen, which also had plenty of space, dishes and a working coffee machine. Only negative thing we encountered was that when taking shower at 10:30 in the morning, the hot water ended. The problem fixed by waiting for 5 minutes but maybe the owner could turn the knob in the boiler a bit clockwise :). I booked the room in April 2025 when this guesthouse had zero reviews in Google Maps and in hotels.com. When my trip came closer, I read many reviews about people not getting into the room. I got my code for keybox in the previous evening with no problem. If my eyesight was correct, the hotel is run by an Indian (?) couple (?) who is still learning how to run a hotel. This was still on the old name in Google Maps (fixed when we reported it) and the Wifi has the old hotel name. Just do a well-arranged system (Excel will do fine) to ensure everyone gets an email with the key box code and you will get this over 4,0/5,0 stars. There is no breakfast served (it is DIY) and the voice insulation is not good. These are not actual problems if you know these beforehand.

Sehr gut ausgestattete Küche mit vielen Kochstellen - somit keine Wartezeiten wenn andere Personen auch kochen wollen. Toller Freizeitbereich. Der Check in war ein wenig mühsam da wir vorab kein Mail mit Zimmernummer und Code erhalten haben. Einige Anrufe waren nötig um telefonische Auskunft zu erhalten.

We were not able to stay at this property and had to pay for a different hotel. This property never sent an email with instructions to access the room. Additionally, no one answered the telephone for the service number posted at the desk. We are asking for a full refund.
