Grand is a 2-star hotel priced like a 4-star. It's old. It's VERY loud and has a ridiculous food policy. But I had little choice but to stay there due to a nearby work obligation on Walking Street. For that, it was the ultimate in convenience. But you pay a price, not only in the relatively high pricetag, but in quality. You're on Walking Street. Bring earplugs to sleep. There are no quiet rooms.
I rented a large family room because I wanted a microwave and kitchette facilities for a special diet. However, not only is there no microwave, there's no plates, forks, etc. And there's a sign by the elevator saying NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED. Why? The Grand's restaurant is permanently closed. It wasn't enforced strongly, however.
The staff, as reviewed, is accommodating as much as they can be. Not effusively friendly, but not rude. The Family Room is spacious and 3-star comfortable. Shower: Water pressure passable but only 2 temps: Cold & scalding. Beware. The place is old, it shows in the corners and details, but, in a pinch, it's a place to stay. And I may again due to its location. But hopefully not.
