This hotel has a beautiful location. The terrace where we had breakfast had a wonderful view. We also had a great meal in the restaurant at a reasonable price. However, several things were disappointing. The shower was too cold to use - would be OK in the summer, I’m sure. The breakfast was very poor value with no hot food. For the breakfast we paid £40 for 2 adults and 2 kids on Expedia - the hotel said it should have been €9 each but didn’t offer a refund, and that still would have been overpriced. There are a large number of cats around the place, which is cute but proved not terribly hygienic. The TV didn’t work. The shaving mirror in the bathroom was broken. These last 2 things are minor quibbles but for a “4 star” hotel with an 8.8 Expedia rating, it was not what I was expecting. Without those, I would booked a cheaper place. I will be wary of relying so much on ratings/stars in future.

Dreamy location with great facilities. We found the hotel on spec and couldn't believe our luck. It was everything we wanted and more. We spent five days here - hiring bikes from the Hacienda and cycling along the Via Verde, returning for a dip in the beautiful pool, followed by drinks on the terrace which offers panoramic views of olive groves, ending the day with a delicious supper in the restaurant. Heaven!

Lovely property in great location, poor service.
Beautiful building in a stunning location, but falls somewhat short of the expected standards of a 4* hotel at that price range. Reception staff were delightful, but service for our party of eight at dinner was very haphazard. We ordered bottles of wine for the table, and the wine was poured into our glasses from opened bottles and we were charged 'per glass' prices! Very unimpressed at breakfast that tables weren't laid up, and when the waitress brought our coffees she made no attempt to clean rubbish and crumbs from previous people off the table, she just dumped the coffees down and walked off. Not the sort of service I'd expect in a 4* hotel charging Parador prices! One of our group had stayed in the hotel a couple of weeks earlier to check it out, and had enquired about the swimming pool, as all the advertising for the property features the lovely, big, blue pool, and we all particularly wanted to use it, and she had been told that it would definitely be ready for our stay. We were very unimpressed on arrival to find it was a dirty green puddle due to broken equipment. We accept that the pool isn't usually opened until June, but we had asked, and we were expecting to have the use of it. My wife and I used the Arab Baths, and they were excellent, with a charming receptionist and all very clean and thoroughly enjoyable. Overall a pleasant stay, but the serving staff need to raise their game somewhat to justify the prices and the rating.

Nice hotel in the mountains away from busy town
Far away, quiet and the ride took too long before we got to the final destination. Our GPS could not find the hotel so we stopped and asked for directions like the old days

Disappointing for the money
Poorly run down and overpriced in comparison to say a Paredor. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

Old is OK rundown is not!
About what we expected from old Spanish country hotel. Did not expect mould in shower and significant grime on floor however. Food was average at best.

A uniqui hotel
A unique hotel with a very friendly and relaxing atmosphere. An oasis of calm. Spent relaxing times wandering around the internal courtyards. A lot of thought and care has been put into the layout, with plants and small fountains etc. We stayed here as a base for hiking in the nearby national park. The small hill town of Zuheros is about half an hours walk away along a wide track. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely stay at this hotel again. Mel & Dot (Scotland)

Wonderful stay in Spanish countryside
After spending a week touring around southern Spain, we wanted a last day to relax and somewhere a bit off of the beaten track. we chose Hacienda Minerva and were not disappointed. It is situated in an olive grove (there are olives as far as the eye can see!) Luis at the reception was extremely helpful and accomodating. The restaurant was SUPERB and Fernando, our waiter took excellent care of us. Couldn't have asked for a better place to sit by the pool and read. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Great hotel but could be even better
We had three days to spend in Andalusia and decided to stay here because of the GREAT reviews. All the positives are true: beautiful hotel in a gorgeous country location in the midst of olive groves as far as the eye can see and a very nice and attentive staff. For example, we arrived at 11:30 p.m. on our first night and they asked whether we had had dinner and then made us a salad and cheese plate. Oddly, though, the hotel isn't set up to take advantage of its gorgeous setting. There is nowhere inside or outside the hotel or even in your room to enjoy the view, except the breakfast terrace, but the sun there was scorching. A few umbrellas over the tables would have helped! Wifi was available only in one courtyard and not in the rooms, but there was no public seating there and you're not likely to stand up with your laptop! Also the restaurant, while good, was overpriced, in our opinion, so be sure to eat before you come back to the hotel. It's also hard to bring in your own food since there is no refrigerator in the rooms. Every single restaurant we tried in Spain had delicious food, so there's no reason to pay a premium for it. The hotel is easy to find as long as you look for kilometer mile 9.8 on the road from Zuheros to Don~a Mencia.

The quirky Hacienda Minerva
More of a village than a hotel with some great views. Signs for the Hacienda need to be rethought though. Nice.clean sitting room, bedroom and bathroom but lighting was too poor to read by. Perhaps due to its isolation they have to be carefull with electricity Breakfast and dinner restaurant staff are first rate as is the food and wines. We ate there on all four nights. Our bill was incredibly reasonable.
