4/10 Sederhana
21 Jan 2026
I stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Scottsdale Old Town on January 1, 2026, after fleeing an unsafe situation with my 10-year-old son. We did stay the night on a separate booking, and the hotel itself was clean and physically safe.
What was unacceptable was the complete lack of compassion, judgment, or accountability from management and corporate.
Under emergency stress, I accidentally booked a reservation for the wrong date through Hotels.com. I discovered the mistake immediately upon arrival, cancelled it right away, and contacted Hotels.com from the hotel that same night. Because we could not safely leave, I paid again for the correct night and stayed.
The original reservation was never used. Despite cancelling immediately, paying twice for the same night, and clearly explaining the emergency, the General Manager refused to authorize a refund. Hilton corporate also refused to intervene, stating policy could not be overridden.
Policies exist, but so does discretion. In this case, both hotel management and corporate chose rigid policy over basic humanity toward a woman and child seeking safety. That decision matters.
If you are traveling under normal circumstances, this hotel may meet your needs. If you value flexibility, empathy, and humane decision-making during emergencies, this is not a property I would recommend.
